Recording underway for “Let There Be” with the William Ferris Chorale

I’m thrilled to share that we will soon be recording “Let There Be”, a work I created with Pastor JoAnn Post for the One Tree Many Branches concert series at Lutheran Church of the Ascension. Under the direction of Chris Windle, the William Ferris Chorale will join forces with our own adult choir for a performance of the work on Saturday, December 20 at 4:30 PM, with the recording session, engineered by the legendary Bill Maylone, to follow the next day.

Let There Be unfolds with haunting beauty, featuring children’s voices, an adult choir, soloists, and an ensemble of piano and string quartet. It offers a more historically nuanced retelling of the Christmas story, inviting listeners to experience it through the eyes of Mary and Joseph, whose lives were upended by miraculous divine purpose. The narrative begins in a dark unformed universe illuminated by God’s first words, “Let there be,” and moves through Gabriel’s announcements, Joseph’s disbelief, Mary’s quiet strength, the schemes of Herod, and the faith of the Wise Ones, ultimately affirming that God’s creative love continues to transform the world today.

I’m deeply grateful to the William Ferris Chorale for their artistry and to all who have supported this project as it moves toward performance, recording, and release.
