Recording has begun for my new album on Cedille Records, featuring Timothy McAllister, Civitas Ensemble, and ~Nois Saxophone Quartet. This project celebrates a twenty-five-year collaboration with Tim, whose artistry and friendship have been a cornerstone of my creative life. Civitas Ensemble, another longtime partner, will record two works for the album; “In Sympathy” and “Anechoic Rhapsody”, written in honor of their outgoing board president in 2020, Judith McCue. I’m also thrilled that ~Nois, one of the quartets that originally commissioned “Quantum Shift”, is now recording the piece here in Chicago where our shared musical roots in this city run deep. The “In Sympathy” session is being captured in Dolby Atmos by engineer Dan Nichols, and we are graced with producer Jim Ginsburg and recording engineer Bill Maylone, whose artistry and dedication to music made here in Chicago are a gift to us all.
