TIM MCALLISTER PERFORMS ZUPKO'S IN TRANSIT
Saxophonist Tim McAllister, soprano chair of the renowned PRISM Saxophone Quartet, acclaimed soloist and recording artist and professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson, comes to the Lutheran Church of the Ascension to perform Zupko’s In Transit, a work he commissioned from Zupko in 2000, as well as other works by Etezady, Matheson, Chambers and others. Mr. McAllister will be joined by Mr. Zupko at the piano and they will perform Zupko’s work together as a duo for the first time since it was commissioned in 2000. The concert takes place on Saturday, May 3rd at 4:30pm. The church is located at 460 Sunset Ridge Rd. in Northfield, IL. The concert is free and open to the public. NEW RECORDING
Five Etudes for Piano was recently released by American Modern Recordings on a disc put out by the American Modern Ensemble of a concert in their series entitled "Powerhouse Pianists", featuring NY pianists Stephen Gosling and Blair McMillen. NEW CHAMBER WORK WITH SAXOPHONE
Nuevo Dia, a work commissioned by the Music Institute of Chicago for alto saxophone, violin, cello, percussion and piano, was recently premiered on the Music Institute’s contemporary music series, "Music for a While", hosted by Abraham Stockman


NEW SOLO PIANO WORK
Sonata Maqâm, the latest solo piano work by Zupko, was commissioned and premiered by pianist Lori Sims at Weill Hall on March 18, 2007.


"THIRTEEN WAYS" WINS 2007 INTERNATIONAL PIANO AWARD
Ghost Variation, one of a set of 12 pieces commissioned by the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, is now available from Edition Peters’ (www.edition-peters.com) in a volume entitled 13 Ways of Looking at the Goldberg. This collective work was selected by the International Piano Awards as the 2007 winner in the Best Sheet Music New Work Category.


IN THE STUDIO
Mr. Zupko has just finished a commission for the St. Olaf Band. The work is titled Flicker and will be premiered in St. Olaf’s 2008-2009 season.
